The short version

Your logbook lives on your phone. Xplog has no user accounts and keeps none of your tasks on a server.

What stays on your phone

Your profile (name, licence, employer and so on), your tasks, the photos attached to them and your exports are stored on your device. Only the scan described below sends some of them out, and only when you scan. They are included in your phone's own backup (iCloud or Google) if you have it turned on. Deleting the app, or using "Delete all my data" in Profile, erases them.

Card scanning

When you scan a work card and have agreed to AI reading, the photos are sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which forwards them to Anthropic (Claude) to read the text and returns the fields to your phone. To find the lines you signed, the request also carries your name, licence numbers, staff number, company authorisation or stamp number and employer from your profile. Our server does not store the photos, your profile details or the text read from them. Anthropic does not use data sent through its API to train its models and keeps it for a limited period only, under its commercial terms. You can turn AI reading off in Profile at any time and type your tasks instead.

To count free and monthly scans, our server stores only an anonymous identifier created by the app store purchase system and your number of scans.

Location

If you allow it, Xplog reads your approximate location when you create a task to fill the airport code of your station. The lookup is done on your phone against a built-in list of airports. Your position is never sent to us or anyone else.

Purchases

Subscriptions are handled by Apple or Google. We receive a confirmation that your subscription is active through RevenueCat, our subscription service, linked to an anonymous identifier. We never see your payment details.

Your rights

As we hold no personal data beyond the anonymous scan counter, there is nothing to export or delete on our side. To have the counter removed, write to support@xp-log.app.

Children

Xplog is meant for working aircraft maintenance staff and is not directed at children.

Changes

We will update this page if this policy changes, and change the date above.
